Loop Pile Carpet

Use a suction-only vacuum. If using an upright vacuum, ensure the brush or beater bar is switched off.

Vacuum daily in busy areas and 2–3 times per week elsewhere.

Cut Pile Carpet

Use an upright vacuum with an adjustable brush or beater bar, set correctly for the pile height.

Vacuum daily in high-use areas and 2–3 times per week in lower-use rooms.

Adjust brush height to suit the pile
Vacuum regularly to prevent flattening
Groom the pile occasionally to reduce shading
 
Don’ts
Don’t use excessive heat or water
Don’t leave carpet damp
Don’t use stiff brushes on delicate piles

Wool Carpet

Use a suction-only vacuum or a vacuum with a soft brush. The beater bar should be switched off.

Vacuum daily in busy areas and 2–3 times per week elsewhere.

Use wool-safe cleaning products
Blot spills immediately with cold water
Vacuum regularly to remove grit
 
Don’ts
Don’t use high-alkaline or bleach cleaners
Don’t over-wet the carpet
Don’t use high heat or aggressive brushing

Vinyl Flooring

Sweep or dust-mop regularly, then damp-mop with a pH-neutral cleaner.

Clean daily in busy areas and 2–3 times per week elsewhere.

Use soft brushes or microfibre mops

Clean up spills promptly

Allow the floor to dry fully


Don’ts

Don’t use abrasive pads or brushes

Don’t flood the floor with water

Don’t use solvent or bleach-based cleaners

LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile)

Dust-mop regularly and damp-mop using a manufacturer-approved neutral cleaner.

Use a vacuum with a hard-floor setting and no brush bar.

Follow manufacturer cleaning guidance
Use entrance mats to reduce grit

Wood Flooring

Clean using dry methods wherever possible. Damp cleaning should be minimal and only with a wood-safe cleaner.

Use a vacuum with a hard-floor mode or soft floor head.

Laminate Flooring

Vacuum or dust-mop regularly, then lightly damp-mop using a laminate-approved cleaner.
